The Get A Bug Address
Dr. Dennis Campbell will describe some of the very important insects (and their kin) and those native plant habitats that can be developed in our own backyards that will promote proper ecological interactions between plants, insects and humans.
Dr. Campbell (husband of member Christine RC) is a retired life and earth science professor fom Lincoln College and is currently the director of that college’s outdoor center for environmental education, Creekside. You might remember a few years ago his presentation on water gardening and a club fieldtrip to see the beginning development of Creekside. Creekside now supplements the setting of agricultural land and a bit of natural environments with reconstructed prairies, water gardens, ethnobotanical gardens and butterfly gardens primarily consisting of native plants. These “ecological exhibits” have been encouraged…so that native gardens of the Insects, by the Insects and for the Insects shall not perish from the Earth.
